Secret operatives

`Death Wave' moves fast as it breaks from NSA to Tajikistan, the Canary Islands and the White
House. Most of the action centers around super secret special operatives of the National Security Agency. They are searching for 12 suitcase size nuclear bombs, but the question is: Who has them? and Where are they going to be used and how?
The book jumps from location to location each separated and labeled with where it is and the day and time. This lends a movement to the story and is not at all confusing. Some of the technical details, actions and operations are over the top, leaving a bit of incredulity. There is little depth to the characters, but some how you still care about them.
One minor point; but to anyone who knows the area around NSA, there is an off putting description of its' location; "tucked in between the Patuxent Freeway and Route 295." No one that I know of who works there or lives around there calls it- the Patuxent Freeway, - this could have been checked and verified easily, which leaves one wondering what other "facts" have been skimmed over.
Despite all this, the action scenes are really page turning and there is room for a follow-up.

Believable, fast paced technothriller with literally a cliff hanger finish

Years ago I quite enjoyed the Saucer stories by Stephen Coonts, but this, the first of Deep Black stories I've read, is in another league. Non-stop action in exotic locations around the world by real characters that make mistakes and are supported by intriguing smart technology in the field, made this a very enjoyable book to read. Suspense dramatically builds over the last third of the book as the National Security Agency team race against time to determine the details of the terrorist plot, gain approval to counter the attack on the Americas and struggle against a deadline to deploy adequate forces to eliminate the deadly threat.
I'll definitely check out the other books in the series!

Looking for adventure, look no further

Good, action filled books are the norm for Coonts books and this one is no exception. Charlie and Lia are knee deep in adventure while back at home the politics tries to undermine all their efforts. Well written and a fun read.
