Six
By mnix
Harmony is a moral, upstanding citizen. She is professional with a capital "P" and it shows. Well, it shows until her annual get-together with her college friends. Once a year, tight laced and seemingly innocent Harmony and her college friends get together for a no holds barred sexual odyssey. Nothing is taboo or forbidden. Boundaries are pushed and pleasure is obtained.
There is just one tiny problem. Harmony is seriously involved with Aiden. She might even LOVE him. He does not know about her annual trips and Harmony is beside herself with trepidation having to tell him where she is going. When he suggests accompanying her, Harmony agrees but remains afraid of Aiden's reaction to the hedonistic and mind blowing sexual journey they are about to embark upon.
Sexual journey is a mild euphemism for the extremely erotic love scenes plotted in Six by Opal Carew. The plot is a good one; sexually adventurous characters often are a favorite of mine. Sexually explicit love scenes combined with heady characters make up Six. And that is where my enjoyment of this book ends. I couldn't get past the often-times gratuitous sexual intercourse they had with others. I found nothing emotionally gripping about these characters; they could have been porn stars on a gonzo film for as much emotion as they displayed. It wasn't until the final love scene between Aiden and Harmony that I even began to believe in the love they had for each other. I know I certainly didn't connect with them at all.
On paper, the blurb for Six looks intriguing and I honestly thought I would enjoy this book. The lack of emotions and sexual promiscuousness of the combined characters made for an almost porn-like atmosphere. Six was definitely not the book for me - lovers of erotica will more than likely feel differently, and I really hope they do. Opal Carew is too talented of an author for me to give up on.

Just as hot as Swing, but lacking emotional punch
By movieaholic44
Sadly, the same issues that I had with Swing, I had with Six. While the people may or may not be strangers, and the sex is definitely hot, the main characters aren't all that emotional, and their relationship seems secondary to the hotness going on in their lives.
Harmony has a secret, and it's that every year she and her college friends (two other women, three men) get together to whoop it up in whatever combination that suits them at that moment. This is something that her love of nearly a year, Aiden, doesn't know, and she's hidden it so well that she's stuck to "vanilla" sex with him the entire time. How will he tolerate the "real" Harmony?
Obviously something must have been working for him because he proposes, but the vacation is coming up, and she has to confess all. She invites him along, and as it was with Swing's heroine, he gets pulled into the lifestyle. He loves her, and the logistics and such don't seem to matter. It's never addressed how he can mentally go from marriage and vanilla sex to no-holds-barred sexfests that can have his great love dealing with five men in one afternoon--four of which are strangers.
The group, who must be in their early 30s if they've been doing this for 12 years, all seem emotionally immature. They don't get involved with each other outside of the group, and they actually don't have any contact unless it involves the arrangements for the trip. Then they get together, and it's pure sex. Is anyone that gets involved with them during the other 51 weeks of the year just supposed to accept this? Or jump in and participate?
The only characters that I found remotely likable were Aiden, and his ex, Mia, but with both, they get sucked in without so much as a whimper or worry about the sexual changes in their lives. For Mia, it's an emotional fix of some sort. For Aiden, he loves Harmony, and I guess since he's turned on in the process, whatever she wants is okay. He seems to float along with the most casual of attitudes with the odd blip of jealousy on his radar, but was it a part of his personality before when he wanted marriage with Miss Vanilla Sex?
The relationship details that I want to see, that I need to see, aren't anywhere to be found because they're buried under all of the sex. If you're looking for a book that's 90% sex, then this will work. If you're looking for a little more emotional depth, some inner turmoil...the book doesn't deliver. For more of that type of thing, you need to go with Opal's Twin Fantasies or Blush instead.

Tons of Sex in Six
By M. Kelly
I don't know where Opal Carew comes up with these storylines but good Lord don't let her stop.
This book is so hot. It is almost too hot to hold while reading it.
Opal Carew books are known for their hot content and this book is just like the others. I love reading about women who are not frail and are not afaid of their sexuality.
